Modest Mouse to float on to Diamond Ballroom stage

Modest Mouse announced a Friday, April 24 date at Diamond Ballroom in Oklahoma City as a part of a national tour in support of Strangers to Ourselves, the band’s impending album and first since 2007’s We Were Dead Before the Ship Even Sank. This marks Modest Mouse’s first Oklahoma City show since a 2009 appearance, also at Diamond Ballroom.

Isaac Brock & Co. won critical admiration and a cult following with 1997’s The Lonesome Crowded West and 2000’s The Moon & Antarctica before mainstream breakout Good News for People Who Love Bad News — buoyed by smash single “Float On” — landed in 2004 and made Modest Mouse one of the preeminent acts of the indie-rock boom in the mid-2000s, both critically and commercially. The band went mostly quiet in the wake of We Were Dead, eventually amping up festival appearance in late 2013 and 2014 all while working on their sixth studio record.  Strangers to Ourselves is due March 17, and singles “Of Course We Know,” “Lampshades On Fire,” “The Best Room,” “Coyotes” and “The Ground Walks, with Time in a Box” are all out now.
