Tears still rolling down their cheeks, Oklahoma music enthusiasts aren’t done grieving alongside Sufjan Stevens, who just won’t (nay, can’t) let go of that top spot. Alabama-bred singer-songwriter Waxahatchee — who recorded a pair of live singles/videos in Oklahoma City with Be Nice to Your Kids back in 2012 — debuts at No. 2 with her acclaimed third studio album, while the wrasslin’-themed work of folk world champs The Mountain Goats comes in right behind at No. 3. The dark, gooey vibes of electro hero Shlohmo rounds out the top five, after Mr. Ex-New Girl & Co.
Norman/Tulsa slacker crew BRONCHO rockets back up to No. 6, perhaps in thanks to a headlining stint at last weekend’s ACM@UCO Metro Music Fest. Death Grips, Kendrick Lamar, Purity Ring and Modest Mouse cling to the final four spots, continuing their respective weeks’ long presence in the top 10.
