We’ve all heard someone say how hard it is to love music in Oklahoma. To some extent, I get it — Oklahoma isn’t a staple on many bands’ touring schedules (well, maybe for a few country artists it is); our best venue is in Tulsa (undisputedly Cain’s Ballroom, and nothing in the surrounding area comes close right now); and a large majority of people are satisfied going to stadium shows for artists with a couple radio hits (see: BOK and Chesapeake Arena’s upcoming concerts). You pretty much see the same people at shows, which is cool, but this always makes me want to stand up in class and ask the people not wearing oversized Greek-affiliated T-shirts if they’re going to see any bands soon.
Because you’re cool (and you’re reading Oxford Karma, so you don’t need me to tell you that you’re cool), or if you’re anything like me, you’re happier while being awed by the amount of talent here in Oklahoma. So quit complaining that your favorite bands don’t play here and give these summer Soundclouds a listen.
Sardashhh
Oklahoma’s resident beatmaker is sure to liven up your summer and get you to dance (or nod uncomfortably — I don’t know your style). If this is your vibe also check out his latest release, ok.keys.

The Daddyo’s
This Tulsa band has been rolling out earnest lyrics and soft harmonies since their beginnings. Just try to listen to this and not imagine yourself wearing jorts walking outside on a summer day.
—
Sports
Think Ariel Pink went to the ‘80s and came back as three guys from Oklahoma. Of course it’s good.
—
PVLMS
This duo takes an impressive approach to electronic music. They’re the champs of the bleep-bloops and exude an almost Jamie xx level of “I Know There’s Gonna Be (Good Times)” summer vibes.
—
The Hitt Boyz
These math-rocker dudes are crowd favorites, and it’s an especially satisfying and joyous time to see them during the summer.
—
Costello
Costello will start recording their new album Manifest this August, but check out their bluesy psych gem “Fuzz” while you wait.
—
Headbutt
Their Soundcloud mostly has live recordings, but you can listen to recorded songs over on their bandcamp.
—
The Pizza Thieves
This is the best Oklahoma band with a rooster on their album cover. (I know it’s technically not on Soundcloud, but stay with me.)
—
Cherry Death
Roll your windows down and other summer clichés and you’ll get it. (Not a soundcloud either. I’m flawed.)
