What are your neighbors listening to? Oxford Karma decided to survey Oklahoma mainstay Guestroom Records about its best-selling records each week to figure out just that. Here’s what was flying off the shelves/out of the crates this week:
1. Bon Iver – Bon Iver
2. The Replacements – The Twin/Tone Years
3. Mac Demarco – Another One
4. The Rolling Stones – Sticky Fingers
5. Tame Impala – Currents
6. Led Zeppelin – Houses of the Holy
7. Brand New – Deja Entendu
8. Gregg Allman – Back To Macon, GA
9. Leon Bridges – Coming Home
10. The Pizza Thieves – Solid Gold Oldies
Okies must not realize that summer is endless, because they appear to be moping around their bedrooms, spinning “Holocene” at a greater clip than usual as school starts again with September around the corner. Justin Vernon usurped Tame Impala, whose Undertaker-like chokehold on the top spot was finally piledriven down to No. 5. The Replacements (the alt-rock band, not the Keanu Reeves film) chart at No. 2 with their newly issued, four-LP box set, while Mac Demarco skips up a notch from No. 4 to No. 3.
The dearth of notable new releases the past few weeks keeps the nostalgia train right on rolling. The Rolling Stones launch back into the top five with their deluxe reissue of Sticky Fingers, while Led Zeppelin lands just outside of it with Houses of the Holy. Brand New reappears at No. 7 with their emo classic. Gregg Allman debuts at No. 8 with his new live album, while holdovers from last week Leon Bridges and Norman’s own The Pizza Thieves round out the top 10.
