With the consistently embarrassing politics, it’s always nice when Oklahoma can put its best foot forward in something. Anything, really. So the news that Broken Arrow-bred rock ‘n’ roller JD McPherson — out in support of this year’s Let the Good Times Roll — will have Purcell-born Parker Millsap in tow with him for a mini-tour of Colorado and Texas in November is most welcome. We may be ranked 48th in education (suck it, Mississippi!), but at least we have some musical pedigree to remind our neighbors we aren’t totally worthless.
Oh, and best of all, this dynamic duo will punctuate this Thelma & Louise journey by crash-landing in Oklahoma on Saturday, Nov. 21 at Cain’s Ballroom in Tulsa. Tickets go on sale this Friday, and until McPherson records a live album at Cain’s (how has that not happened yet?) there’s no way to experience that majesty but in person, so get on it.
