While small DIY spaces seem to be sprouting up left and right, Norman’s Dope Chapel has been as consistently kind to Oklahoma’s burgeoning indie scene as any. This is in large part because of its Nice Tuesday events, a weekly, donation-driven house show exhibiting both local and touring acts of all stripes. In keeping with the venue’s whimsical spirit, its lineups usually aren’t announced until the day of. But we got the scoop on next week’s gig (which is actually on Monday, Feb. 9), and it’s a good one.
Nice Tuesday’s 100th show features psych-poppers Luna Moth (in its first performance in almost a year), ACM@UCO product Eric Massey, swingin’ troubadour Kyle Reid, and the avant-piano duo of Michael Stafford and Allie Naifeh. (Monday is actually Naifeh’s birthday, which is why Nice Tuesday will be Nice Monday for a week. Party on.)
The show starts at 9 p.m. at Dope Chapel. Donations are encouraged to support the venue and bands. That’s the poster above, and you can check out a jam from Luna Moth below, a song voted as one of the 10 best local tracks of 2014 by Joshua Boydston and yours truly.
