Back in late March, Gerard Way tweeted a few nice words about Tulsa indie band Nuns, not bad publicity coming from a guy with over a million Twitter followers. But it looks like something bigger was in the works all along, as today Nuns announced a run of dates with Way through the North and Midwest, including a pair of dates in Canada.
Way, of course, is best known as the eyeliner-lovin’ frontman of Hot Topic’s Beatles, My Chemical Romance. The band broke up in 2013, and Way has since gone the way (heh) of a solo artist, releasing his debut album, Hesitant Alien, last September. Channeling his angsty past into more alt-pop-friendly songwriting, the 38-year-old’s (what?!) album was met with mostly strong reviews, spawning a hit single with “No Shows.”
Here are the dates:
- 05-15 | Minneapolis, MN – First Avenue & 7th Street Entry
- 05-16 | Chicago, IL – The Vic
