This Saturday, Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center will host its annual Midnight Streak 5k benefiting arts education. The race now spans Automobile Alley, Midtown, and Heritage Hills in order to include the Contemporary’s new arts campus at NW 11th Streetand Broadway Avenue. It’s $35 to register, and the money helps fund events like the Contemporary’s free lectures and Make + Take workshops. These workshops happen every second Saturday and are inspired by exhibitions currently featured at the Contemporary.
As motivation to register, the first 500 people will receive a T-shirt designed by a local artist, and each runner is promised a medal after completing the race.
The race starts at 8 p.m., but there are activities for kids, a community art project, and food trucks starting at 6. If you’re someone who thinks running is an activity only irresponsible and deranged people do, you can still donate to the Contemporary and volunteer at the event. Check out their website to find more information about the race and what OK Contemporary does.
You can pick up your runners packet on the today from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Showroom (1146 N. Broadway Ave.), or on the 15th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the same location. Onsite registration begins at 6 p.m. Aug. 15 at the race’s North Tent.
